Stupid Arguments in Boxing

Why are we still arguing about palm direction on a hook like it's a political stance?

Don't you just hate the petty arguments in boxing? Especially the ones about technique?

Should you pivot the lead foot on a hook or not? Palm down or palm facing you? Both have their own uses! (Covered in the SSS system, by the way.) But that's beside the point.

Everyone turns these things into identity wars. "That's how my coach taught me!"

But boxing isn't politics. You're not pledging allegiance to a camp. You're trying to be effective in a fight.

This is exactly why most traditional martial arts don't hold up in real fights. It's not that the arts are bad — it's the obsession with preserving the style instead of focusing on whether it works.

We should be learning from what actually works in practice. Study the best. Observe what they do. Then look closer. Look for the flaws. Question everything.

That's how growth works.

Every twitch, every adjustment, every angle — it all needs to have a purpose. So be intentional.

Because at the end of the day, boxing success comes down to one thing: Landing more effective punches than your opponent, while avoiding theirs.

That's it. So stop bickering about palm angles. Start asking what actually works.

Let's clean up the noise and evolve the craft.
